Me envolvi com a AboutFace por causa de meu desejo de alcançar e informar a sociedade sobre os desafios de viver com uma diferença facial.
Eu conheço por experiência própria os sentimentos de isolamento social e dor experimentados por crianças que tem a aparência diferente porque também nasci com uma diferença facial chamada Microtia, que afetou a estrutura da minha orelha direita.

Assumindo o papel de narrador do programa escolar Enfrentando Diferenças, fui presenteado com a oportunidade de ajudar as crianças a explorar as diferenças físicas e espero desenvolver a aceitação através da compreensão em sala de aula.

Este programa único permite que as crianças interajam uns com os outros a fim de explorar a diversidade, a curiosidade, descobrir similaridades, e desenvolver a empatia. Ele também dá aos educadores os recursos e diretrizes para ajudar a aprendizagem direta nesta questão tão sensível e pessoal.

Acredito que quando as crianças percebem semelhanças entre si, independentemente de suas diferenças físicas, em seguida, começam a plantar sementes de tolerância para o futuro.
Este é o objetivo final de Enfrentando Diferenças.

Portanto, eu convido você a se juntar a nós em nossa missão de criar ambientes escolares onde cada criança se sinta valorizada e respeitada.
Vamos ajudar as crianças a alcançarem seu pleno potencial através da aceitação.

I became involved with AboutFace because of my desire to reach out and educate society about the challenges of living with a facial difference.
I know first hand the feelings of social isolation and pain experienced by children who look different. I too was born with a congenital condition called
Microtia, which affected the structure of my right ear.
Taking on the role of narrator in the Facing Differences school program presented me with the opportunity to help children explore physical differences, and hopefully build acceptance through understanding in the classroom.

This unique program allows kids to step into each other’s shoes and explore diversity, curiosity, discover similarities, and develop empathy. It also gives educators the resources and guidelines to help direct learning in this very sensitive and personal issue.

I believe that when children realize commonalities between each other, regardless of their physical differences, then we have begun to plant the seeds of tolerance for the future.
This is the ultimate goal of Facing Differences.

Therefore, I invite you to join us in our mission to create school environments where every child feels valued and respected. Help children reach their fullest potential through acceptance.
